We were very chuffed to be asked by the producers of the Mornings with Kerry-Anne show (Nine network) to organize a Kid’s fashion parade for them! It aired LIVE at 9.30am on Tuesday the 8th of July. Justine Cullen (editor of Shop Til’You Drop) spoke to Kerry-Anne about the fashions we selected to show and 6 gorgeous kids (thank you Harmony, Edward, Lauren, Annabelle, Andreas and Molly!) modeled the looks- all from Baby’s Got Style. Kerry-Anne also took some of our fashions onto the TODAY show to show Karl and Lisa (the Big by Fiona Scanlan tutu was very well received!).

If you missed it, you can watch it here:

Ready!

Meeting Kerry-Anne

They say never to work with animals or children but we had so much fun- and considering it was live to air…just think of the possible disasters we could have had with 6 kids age 4-5 on live TV!

Interview with designer of Fresh Baked, Nadia

What’s the story behind Fresh Baked (ie history)?
Fresh Baked was created to bridge the gap between quality design and affordability in the childrens wear market. Three years strong and we are continually expanding our following.

Complete this sentence: A Fresh Baked kid is...
ready for anything and looking stylish while doing it!

What inspires your designs?
Everything and anything. Pop culture, travel, childhood nostalgia, music, vintage designs – just to name a few! Focusing on attention to detail, ensures that the practicality and comfort of our designs are paramount, endearing us to both kids and mums alike.

What can we expect in store for summer?
Our summer collection is jam packed full of fun and colour. Taking inspiration from recent travels to Sweden and Paris, focusing on ornate prints for girls, embellished tees mixed with key denim pieces and delicate knits. Street cred for the boys with tribute to the 80’s inspired boom box tees, relaxed denim and casual pieces that are ready to wear.

Do you have an all time favourite product or collection (past or present or future seasons)?
Too many to list, but at the moment I’m loving our summer dresses for this season – and our tees with heavy embroidery details and funky graphics are standouts. We all wish they came in adult sizes!

Describe your own personal style?
An eclectic mix of pieces sourced from local designers, overseas and vintage pieces.

Why should every kid own at least one piece of Fresh Baked?
It’s the essential ingredient for every wardrobe.

What sets Fresh Baked apart from other kids clothing brands?
We are constantly evolving and growing as the kids do! Fresh Baked lets kids express themselves and enjoy being kids!

We think it is important to give kudos where kudos is due. And the girls at FLATOUTaustralia (Prue and Sarah) are definitely due a pat on the back!

Aside from creating their divine little comforter bears (which is clever enough in itself we think), the girls (who are sisters) have always tried to give something back through charity.

The charitable work they do is in Cambodia and focuses around children because Prue spent a year living there and working as a volunteer in 2000.

Through the sales of FLATOUTbears, Prue and Sarah are committed (and always have been) to donating a portion of their profits directly (that means every cent donated reaches the Cambodian kids) to CEDAC, a Cambodian run non-government organization (www.cedac.org.kh).

Sadly, some children in Cambodia aren't as lucky as the children here in Australia, for example in rural areas 20% of children do not attend primary school and 44% of children under 5yrs are stunted due to lack of proper and sufficient nutrition, clean water and sanitation. The money that FLATOUTbear donates is used to provide fresh water, fresh food, shelter and school books to the children. They also sponsor a village based childcare centre where pre-school children can play, learn, borrow books and mothers can meet and discuss local issues. Already around 200 families have benefited from the education programme and the child care centre will support around 80 children.

The girls believe that:

"When you get, give.
When you learn, teach."

Through the success of their little FLATOUTbears they have been able to make a real difference. Below are some photos showing some of the work FLATOUTaustralia is funding in Cambodia (they helped to fund the little building pictured below!).

So not only will your child love their FLATOUTbear - but it’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy as well in the knowledge that its not just a bear - but a bear with a heart that is making a real difference in the world. Who would have thought your child’s favourite sleeptime pal could do all that? Check out the range of FLATOUTbears here.
