Interview with head designer and owner of Little Horn, Sean


What’s the story behind Little Horn (ie history)?
I had a bunch of streetwear retail stores in the 90's [Mooks, M1-11] which rode a pretty succesful wave during that boom. Anyway, I sold up in 2002 and swore never to do ragtrade (ed: fashion industry) again. But in the meantime, I'd had a boy and a little girl on the way and saw what was out there for the kids was pretty boring. The rest you know is history!

Any business advice you'd like to share?
Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing....good chance they are doing it wrong anyway!

What inspires your designs?
All the best/worst of popular culture that has stuck in my brain for the last 30yrs. Collecting all that useless information finally becomes useful I guess.

What can we expect in store for future collections?
All killer no filler! Just finishing a bunch of stuff for summer...a bit of 80's inspired fluoro prints will be the highlight.

Do you have an all time favourite product?
I've done a few wrestling prints over the years that go under the 'bonecrusher horn' series (Sean is wearing one in this shot). The older they get , the better they look.

Describe your own personal style?
Island style (Little Horn is based in Bali)! I don’t get out of a tee and shorts these days. It’s always a big occasion to go to a city where I get to wear shoes and jeans!!

Why should every kid own at least one piece of Little Horn?
(a) Because if they don’t , they are going to get heavied in the playground by all the cool kids. And no-one wants that..!
(b) Because I’ve got 3 kids and a mortgage!!
(c) Because both parents are nerds, so it’s a good chance to break the cycle.
